Every summer, the hydrangeas outside my studio window arrive in abundance. Their large blossoms seem to gather light throughout the day, shifting from soft morning blues to luminous creams and silvery shadows.
As I painted Gathered Light, I found myself returning again and again to those blooms. What began as a simple floral painting became a study of abundance, patience, and the beauty of nature gathering itself into great clusters of color and light.
Built through many layers of paint, texture, and discovery, this painting celebrates the quiet joy of looking closely at the familiar and finding wonder there. Inspired by the hydrangeas that bloom just beyond my studio, Gathered Light is a reminder that beauty often grows closest to home.
